Kabukiza Single Act Tickets (2026): How to Watch One Act of Kabuki in Ginza
A full kabuki programme lasts hours and costs more. If you want a taste, buy a single act seat (hitomakumi) at Kabukiza in Ginza: one act, from ¥500 to ¥3,500 on the 4th level. In November 2026 the acts ran from 39 minutes to about two and a half hours.
Single act seats go on sale online at 12:00 Japan time the day before. If you miss them, a smaller batch of 4th-level seats is sold at the theatre from 10:00 on the day, one per person. The official table lists only these two ways to buy, so there is no agency ticket to compare.
This page has a few affiliate links to things near the theatre. Single act tickets are only sold by the theatre itself.
Which single act seat should I buy?
Single act seat, 4th level (online)
About 70 seats per act on the top floor, the furthest from the stage. Kabuki Web says the hanamichi walkway is not visible from here and part of the main stage may be out of sight.
Single act seat, 4th level (on the day)
Only about 20 seats per act, and sales stop when they are gone. Each person in your group buys their own, so everyone has to be there.
Upgraded single act seat, 2nd level
23 seats in rows 3–5 on the right side of the 2nd level, closer to the stage. You enter through the main entrance and can use levels 1–3. Same-day sales stop at 17:00, and they are not sold for every performance.

How much is a single act? An example month
Each month has a different programme, and prices are set per act. These are the November 2026 prices (Nov 1–25), as an example.
The month's times and prices are announced on Kabuki Web by the first performance day, and times can still change: for November the final times were posted the evening before opening. Check the page on the day you go. December 2026 runs Dec 2–25, with no performances on Dec 9 and 17.
How to buy a single act seat

- At 12:00 Japan time the day before, buy online. Card only, up to 4 tickets per person for the 4th level.
- Or go to the single act box office on the day, from 10:00, for a 4th-level seat. One ticket per person, so everyone in the group must be there.

Upgraded seat holders use the main entrance.Rent the captioning device for an English or simplified Chinese explanation of what's happening on stage. What if…?
…the online seats are gone?
Go to the theatre for the 4th-level seats sold from 10:00 on the day. There are only about 20 per act, and sales end once they are gone.
…I want to see two acts?
Buy a ticket for each act. If you want most of the day, compare the total with the price of a full ticket.
…I don't understand Japanese?
Rent the captioning device (English or simplified Chinese). The programme sold at the theatre also has a detailed English synopsis at the back.
…I arrive after the act starts?
You may have to wait before you're shown in. In November 2026 Kabuki Web warned this for one act in particular.
How do I buy a full ticket instead?
Is a single act worth it?
For a first visit, it's the low-cost way in: you see the real theatre, costumes and music for ¥500–¥3,500, and keep the rest of the day for sightseeing. The 4th level is far from the stage, so bring binoculars if you have them.
If you already love kabuki, or want to see the actors' faces, a full ticket or an upgraded single act seat is the better buy.

What we checked
Kabuki Web (Shochiku): the single act seats page and its table, the November 2026 single act prices, How to buy tickets, and the Kabukiza theatre page. Access from kabuki-bito.jp.
The table showed online sales from 12:00 the day before and box office sales on the day, 1 per person. The 4th-level page gave about 70 online and 20 box office seats per act, box office sales from 10:00, and said the hanamichi is not visible from the 4th level. We have not bought a single act ticket ourselves.
