Naha Airport to the City and Beyond (2026): Yui Rail, Bus or Rental Car?
Staying in Naha? Take the Yui Rail monorail: Kencho-mae, at the start of Kokusai-dori, is 13 minutes and ¥290 from the airport. No booking, and IC cards such as Suica work.
Heading north to Churaumi Aquarium or the beaches? That is where a rental car or a day tour wins, because the bus takes about 3 hours. We checked fares and times on Yui Rail's and the venues' official pages on 7 November 2026.

Where are you going first?
Yui Rail
13 minutes to Kencho-mae, 16 to Makishi. Simple and cheap.
Rental car or airport bus
Hotels in Onna or Motobu are far from the monorail. Airport limousine buses run from Naha Airport to the Onna resort area and on towards Nago.
Rental car
About 2 hours to Churaumi via the Okinawa Expressway. Parking at Ocean Expo Park is free.
Day tour
Bus tours from Naha bundle Churaumi with stops on the way.
How much is Yui Rail, and how long does it take?
Children pay about half (for example ¥150 to Kencho-mae). The 1-day pass is ¥1,000 and the 2-day pass ¥1,800; both run 24 or 48 hours from purchase, so buy them just before your first ride. With fares of ¥290–¥360, a pass pays from about the fourth ride.
How do I ride the monorail from the airport?
Walk to Naha Airport Station
Follow the monorail signs from arrivals to the station.
Tap an IC card, or buy a ticket
Suica and the cards it works with (ICOCA, PASMO, Kitaca and others) are accepted, and you can top up at the ticket machines. Otherwise buy a ticket or a day pass at the machine.
Ride towards Tedako-Uranishi
Naha Airport is the end of the line, so every train goes the right way.
Too big a suitcase?
Naha Airport Station has coin lockers (¥600), usable until the last train that day.
Should I rent a car in Okinawa?
Rent one if you plan to go north of Naha, even for one day. Churaumi Aquarium is about 2 hours by car and about 3 hours by express bus. Stay in Naha only? Skip the car: parking costs money and the monorail covers the centre.

…I land late?
Look up the last Yui Rail train on its timetable page before you fly. After that, take a taxi from the airport taxi stand; Naha Airport's taxi page shows where it is and publishes fare estimates to nearby sights.
…I want to see Shuri Castle on day one?
Ride to Shuri (27 min, ¥360). A 1-day pass pays if you also ride back and go out again in the evening.
