Robot Restaurant Shinjuku (2026): What Replaced It, and How to Book the Samurai Show
If you came looking for the Robot Restaurant, it no longer runs. The show that fills its place today is Samurai Restaurant, at 1-7-7 Kabukicho in Shinjuku: a sound-and-light show featuring samurai, dancers and robots, with food or drinks included in the price.
The short answer: there are three shows a day and the last one starts at 16:30, so this is an afternoon outing, not a late night. The morning show is the cheapest. Bring your passport, because it is strictly 18+. We read the venue's official site on 6 November 2026: it lists the show times and prices, and online booking was paused for maintenance.
Some links on this page are affiliate links. We show the venue's own booking first.
Is the Robot Restaurant still open?
No. The original Robot Restaurant show has closed. Samurai Restaurant, also in Kabukicho, is the show of the same kind running today. The venue describes it as a performance of sound and light featuring samurai, dancers and robots.
What the official site showed on 6 November 2026
The FAQ says admission is limited to guests aged 18 and over, walk-ins are welcome but may be turned away when busy, and wheelchair users should tell the venue in advance.
The site lists the address as 1-7-7 Kabukicho, Shinjuku, and says reservations open up to 4 weeks ahead.
A notice dated Nov 2, 2026 said online booking was paused for maintenance. A notice dated Oct 22 announced a new show, "The Phoenix Rises".
The Show Times page lists three shows (10:50–12:30, 14:00–15:40, 16:30–18:10), doors at 10:30, 13:30 and 16:00, and a total of ¥8,000 for the first show and ¥10,000 for the other two (admission plus food or 2 drinks).
Official booking or Klook: which is better?
Both get you into the same show. The difference is what's bundled, the price and the booking terms.

- Pick the show time. The 10:50 show is ¥2,000 cheaper than the 14:00 and 16:30 shows. There is no evening show: the last one ends at 18:10.
- Check everyone is 18 or older. There's no exception for children with parents. If you're travelling with kids, choose another night out (see below).
- Book and save the confirmation. Keep the QR code or voucher as a screenshot.
- Arrive early with your passport. Doors open 20–30 minutes before the show (10:30, 13:30 or 16:00), and the venue asks you to arrive earlier. Your passport proves your age.The venue is on the basement floor (B1) at 1-7-7 Kabukicho, and mobile data helps you find it. A Japan eSIM is the easiest fix.Compare Japan eSIMs on Klook ↗
What if…?
…I'm travelling with children?
They can't go in. The FAQ says the show suits all ages, but the venue currently admits only guests aged 18 and over.
…the online booking isn't working?
Walk-ins are accepted when seats are left. Or book a ticket through an agency such as Klook.
…I'm vegan or need halal food?
The venue offers halal-friendly and vegan options. The FAQ asks you to ask staff for details when you visit.
…I use a wheelchair?
Wheelchair users are welcome. The venue asks you to tell it in advance.
Is it worth it?
If you want an afternoon show rather than a dinner, it fits: food or drinks come with the ticket, but the show is the point. If you want traditional theatre, Kabuki-za is a better use of the money, and a single-act ticket there costs ¥500–¥3,500.
