Fuji Hakone Pass (2026): ¥11,100 for 3 Days, Is It Worth It?
You want to see both Hakone and the Mt Fuji lakes on one trip, and the Fuji Hakone Pass looks like the answer. It is, but only for a 3-day circuit: Tokyo to Hakone, over to Kawaguchiko, and back.
For Hakone alone, the Hakone Freepass is ¥3,600 cheaper. For Kawaguchiko alone, a highway bus is simpler. We read Odakyu's official pass pages on 7 November 2026; prices and coverage below are from them.
Some links on this page are affiliate links. Odakyu sells this pass at its own counters, and we explain that first.
Fuji Hakone Pass or Hakone Freepass?
Both are 3-day Odakyu passes with the same Hakone coverage. The difference is what the extra ¥3,600 buys:
Honest verdict: the Fujikyu train one way is ¥1,170, so you need another ¥2,430 of Fujikyu bus rides around the lakes to make up the extra ¥3,600. If you're doing Hakone and Kawaguchiko as two separate day trips from Tokyo, a 2-day Hakone Freepass (¥7,100) plus the highway bus to Kawaguchiko and back (¥2,000 online each way) also comes to ¥11,100. The bus runs from Shinjuku and back, whereas with the Fuji Hakone Pass you still pay JR between Otsuki and Shinjuku.
The 3-day circuit the pass is built for
- Day 1Shinjuku → Odawara → Hakone-Yumoto on Odakyu (covered; the Romancecar seat fee is extra). Ride the loop: mountain train, cable car, ropeway over Owakudani, pirate ship on Lake Ashi.
- Day 2Hakone → Gotemba → Kawaguchiko by bus. Whether every bus on this link is inside the pass's designated areas is not stated on the official page; ask at the service center when you buy.
- Day 2Around Kawaguchiko on the Fujikyu sightseeing buses (designated areas covered): lake views of Mt Fuji, the Chureito Pagoda area by Fujikyu train.
- Day 3Kawaguchiko → Otsuki on the Fujikyu Railway (covered), then JR Otsuki → Shinjuku (not covered, pay separately).
How do you buy and use it?
- Go to the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center. Shinjuku West (on the west side of Shinjuku Station) or Odawara. Bring your passport: Odakyu sells this pass only to foreign visitors and asks to see a non-Japanese passport or a residence card.
- Ask for the Fuji Hakone Pass and pay. You get a paper ticket. The day you buy it counts as day 1, so buy it on the morning you leave.
- Use the ticket on every covered ride. For 3 days the paper ticket is your ticket on every covered train, cable car, ropeway, boat and bus. Keep it safe.Bus times around the lakes and in Hakone change by season. A phone with data helps you check the next bus.Japan eSIM on Klook ↗
- Show it for discounts. Odakyu says the pass gives discounts at 70+ spots in Hakone, including hot springs, museums and restaurants.
What if…?
…the Hakone Ropeway is closed?
During planned maintenance (7–24 December 2026 and 12 January–26 February 2027), replacement buses run for valid ticket holders. In strong wind or volcanic gas alerts it can stop without notice.
…I want the Romancecar?
Pay the seat fee separately: ¥1,200 one way Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto (¥1,150 online).
…I'd rather go to Kawaguchiko directly from Shinjuku?
That leg isn't covered. The highway bus costs ¥2,200 at the counter or ¥2,000 online, and the Fuji Excursion train ¥4,200 one way.
…I only have one day?
This pass doesn't suit a day trip. Join a tour that covers Hakone and Fuji in one day instead.

Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center
Shinjuku West or Odawara. Paper ticket, official price ¥11,100.
Klook voucher
Klook and KKday both list a Fuji Hakone Pass voucher. You still go to the Shinjuku West or Odawara counter with your passport and swap it for the paper ticket, so it saves no queue. It only helps if you want to pay in your own currency before the trip. Check that the listing includes the Shinjuku ⇄ Odawara round trip, and compare the price with ¥11,100 at the counter.

Odakyu's English pass page listed ¥11,100 (adults) and ¥3,600 (children 6–11) for 3 consecutive days, the covered transport, and the excluded JR, highway bus and Romancecar fees.
It said the pass is sold at the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Centers in Shinjuku West and Odawara as a paper ticket, and cannot be bought from ticket machines or online.
Odakyu's 2025 fare-revision release listed this pass going from ¥10,100 to ¥11,100 (children ¥3,100 to ¥3,600) together with the Hakone Freepass, and said buyers must show a non-Japanese passport or a residence card. Fujikyu Railway's fare table listed Otsuki ⇄ Kawaguchiko at ¥1,170 (adults). We have not bought the pass.
