Kintetsu Rail Pass (2026): 1-Day ¥1,900 to 5-Day Plus ¥6,700, and When It Beats Paying per Ride
You're heading to Nara, or on to Ise, and wondering whether the Kintetsu Rail Pass saves money. For a simple Osaka–Nara day trip, compare the ¥1,900 pass with two single fares before you buy. The more you fit in on one pass, such as Osaka, Nara and Kyoto in a day, the Nara buses, or Ise-Shima on the 5-day pass, the more it is worth.
The pass is digital only: you buy it online and hold the QR code over the gate. Limited express trains always need an extra ticket.

Is the Kintetsu Rail Pass worth it?
Kintetsu's pass pages don't show single fares, and we haven't confirmed them, so we don't print totals here. Look up the normal fares for your own route on Kintetsu's site or a route app, and compare:

How to buy and use the Kintetsu Rail Pass
- Buy the pass online. Kintetsu sells all four versions on its English site, 24 hours a day. You can use it right after paying.
- Open the QR code on your phone at the station. Hold it over the reader at the ticket gate. Where a gate doesn't read digital tickets, show the screen to station staff.
- Buy a limited express ticket if you want a reserved seat. The pass covers express and local trains. A limited express seat is extra.
- Keep your passport with you. Kintetsu asks pass holders to carry it so they can show it if asked. The pass is for the holder only.A digital pass needs a phone with data all day.Compare Japan eSIMs on Klook ↗

What if…?
…I want a refund?
Kintetsu station offices can't refund a pass bought online or through a travel agent; contact the seller. Delays and closures from weather or accidents are not refunded.
…my phone battery dies?
The QR code on your phone is the ticket, and Kintetsu says you need an internet-connected device to use it. Carry a battery pack.
