Dotonbori River Cruise (2026): Tombori Cruise Tickets, Times, and How to Avoid Sell-Outs
You want the boat ride under the Glico sign, and you've heard the evening boats fill up. That's true: tickets are for a fixed departure, and the evening ones go first. Get your boarding time during the day and come back for it.
The ride is ¥2,000 for adults, and free with the Osaka Amazing Pass. If you'll visit two or three other sights the same day, the pass is the better deal.

How do Dotonbori cruise tickets work?
Every ticket is for one departure time. You can only board the boat printed on your ticket, and a full boat can't take more people. So the real question isn't whether to buy ahead, but when to get your time slot.
At the pier, on the day
The counter opens an hour before the first departure. Pay ¥2,000 and choose a time. Simple, but by evening the times you want may be gone.
Online, paid in advance
The operator's web ticket site (in Japanese) opens each date three months ahead at 9:00, and sales close 20 minutes before departure. You pay online; tickets can't be changed, cancelled or refunded, except card payments when a sailing is cancelled. Show the QR code from My Page at the boarding gate; no counter visit needed.
Osaka Amazing Pass
The cruise is included. On the day, swap the pass for a timed ticket at the counter. Same rule: earlier in the day means more choice.
How to get on the boat, step by step
- Go to the counter at Don Quijote Dotonbori in the daytime. It's on the ground floor by the river, and the boats leave from Tazaemonbashi pier right in front. 5–10 minutes' walk from Namba, Shinsaibashi or Nipponbashi.
- Pay, or show your Osaka Amazing Pass, and pick a departure. You choose from the departures that still have space; a full boat can't take more people.
- Come back a little before your time. Only the departure on your ticket can be boarded. The operator asks you to be at the pier 15 minutes before departure; web ticket holders line up at the boarding gate at least 10 minutes before.You'll want data to check whether boats are running and to find the pier in the crowds. The Osaka Amazing Pass site listed the Tombori River Cruise: departures at :00 and :30 from 11:00 to 21:00, closed Jul 13, 24 and 25, same-day timed tickets only, "evening boats sell out early", no phone bookings, and fares of ¥2,000 / ¥1,000 / ¥500.
The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau page gave the same times and fares, the Don Quijote check-in, and online prepaid booking on cloud-pass.jp.
The operator's web ticket site (cloud-pass.jp) opens bookings three months ahead, closes sales 20 minutes before departure, allows no changes, cancellations or refunds (card payments are refunded if a sailing is cancelled), asks you to arrive 15 minutes early, and lets web ticket holders go straight to the boarding gate with the QR code.
The operator's own site (ipponmatsu.co.jp) showed a maintenance notice and the day's operating status only, so we could not read its fare pages.
Is the Dotonbori cruise worth ¥2,000?
As a 20-minute ride, ¥2,000 is not cheap. You see the same canal from the riverside walk for free. What you're paying for is the view from the water, under the bridges, with someone explaining what you're looking at.
Our honest view: if you have the Osaka Amazing Pass, absolutely take it, since it costs you nothing extra. Without the pass, it's worth it at night and less so in the daytime. If the cruise is your only paid sight that day, pay at the pier rather than buying the pass.

Walk the Tombori River Walk
The riverside path runs right along the canal. Same signs, same reflections, no ticket.
Things to know before you go
- Boats can be cancelled without notice for weather, high water, river works or events.
- No sailings on Jul 13, 24 and 25.
- The first and last departures can change, and some departures in between may not run.
- Extra boats are sometimes added on busy days.
- Children: ¥500 for primary school age, and for each preschooler beyond one per adult.
- The operator's phone line is 050-1807-4118 (9:00–17:00), but it does not take bookings.
