What we could check on Nov 7, 2026

Checked on Nov 7, 2026

The official English site lists adults ¥2,000, ages 4–12 ¥500, under 4 free, open daily 9:30–22:30 with last entry at 22:00.

The same site says individual online tickets are sold through Klook and group tickets through asoview, and its ticket button links to the Klook listing.

It says Osaka Amazing Pass and Osaka e-Pass holders enter free from 9:30 to 15:00 and get 10% off from 15:00 to 22:00, and that the rooftop may close in heavy rain.

The official Japanese access page gives the walk from JR Osaka Station as 7 minutes.

When is the best time to go?

The rooftop deck is open-air, with the city lights all around, and the observatory stays open until 22:30 (last entry 22:00), so you can go for sunset or for the night view.

With an Osaka Amazing Pass, the free window ends at 15:00. If you want the night view, you pay with a 10% discount instead. Pick one: free daytime, or paid night.

How to visit, step by step

  1. Walk from Osaka Station to the Sky Building. Leave JR Osaka Station by the Central North Exit, pass Grand Front Osaka South Building, then take the underground walkway. The official site puts it at 7 minutes.
  2. Go up to the observatory floors. An elevator takes you to the 35th floor, then a glass tube escalator crosses the gap between the two towers to the 39th floor. Above it are the indoor 360° gallery on the 40th floor and the rooftop.
  3. Buy at the window, or show your online ticket. Amazing Pass holders show the pass: free from 9:30 to 15:00, 10% off after that.
You'll need data to open an online ticket and to find your way through Umeda's underground. A Japan eSIM is the simplest fix.

  4. Go up to the rooftop. The official site warns that the rooftop may close in heavy rain. The 40th-floor gallery below it is indoors.

Where people get stuck

I can't find the building from Osaka Station

Follow the official walking route: Central North Exit, past Grand Front Osaka South, then the underground walkway about 40 m and up the stairs.

It's raining

Heavy rain may close the rooftop. Check the sky before you pay at the window; for an online ticket, read the listing's refund terms before you buy.

My Amazing Pass wasn't free

It's free only from 9:30 to 15:00. After that it gives 10% off.

Umeda Sky or Abeno Harukas: which one?

Open-air

Umeda Sky Building

¥2,000 adults, open to 22:30, rooftop with no glass, next to Osaka Station. Free with an Amazing Pass before 15:00.

Highest

Abeno Harukas 300

¥2,200 adults on the day, 9:00–22:00, a higher glass deck at Tennoji. Better if you're staying south.

Our verdict: if you're near Umeda, want the night air and the famous building shape, choose Umeda Sky. If you want the highest view and are near Tennoji or Namba, choose Harukas.
