Hiroshima and Miyajima in One Day (2026): Route, Tickets and Which Pass
You can see the Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima in one long day. From Osaka or Kyoto, the Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass (¥17,000 for 5 days) already costs less than a single Nozomi round trip, and it includes the JR ferry to Miyajima.
Little needs booking. The Peace Memorial Museum recommends an advance web ticket, and the Miyajima Ropeway takes reservations on some days. Everything else is walk-in.

Which ticket should you buy to get to Hiroshima?
Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass
One Nozomi round trip Shin-Osaka–Hiroshima is ¥21,900, so the pass wins even if you only go there and back. For visitors on a Temporary Visitor stay with a foreign passport.

What if…?
…the Great Torii is at low tide?
At low tide you can walk out to the gate; at high tide it seems to float. Both are worth seeing. Check a tide table for your date if one matters to you.
…I only have half a day?
Pick one. The Peace Park and museum take about three hours; Miyajima with the shrine takes about the same.
…I don't want to handle the connections?
A tour from Osaka or Hiroshima handles trains, ferry and timing. It costs more than doing it yourself with the pass.

Is it worth doing both in one day?
Yes, if you start early. The boat from the Peace Park goes straight to Miyajima in about 45 minutes. What you give up is time on Miyajima in the evening.
If you can, stay one night in Hiroshima. Then you can do the museum without rushing and see Miyajima early the next morning. See Hiroshima for where to stay.
Going from Tokyo instead?
It's about four hours each way by Nozomi, so plan at least one night. Our Tokyo–Hiroshima page shows the trains and fares.
