Super Nintendo World Timed Entry (2026): How to Get In, App-Only Tickets and the Express Pass Option
You have a USJ day booked and Mario Kart is the reason you're going. The catch: on busy days, Super Nintendo World needs its own entry ticket on top of your Studio Pass.
The short answer: get the free Area Timed Entry Ticket in the official USJ app on the day, as early as you can. If you can't risk missing out, buy an Express Pass that includes guaranteed area entry before you go.

How does Super Nintendo World entry work?
USJ controls entry to the area depending on the day's attendance. When it does, there are three ways in. A guaranteed entry ticket (確約券) is bought in advance, with certain Express Passes or through select travel agencies. A timed entry ticket (整理券) and a lottery ticket (抽選券) are free and issued on the day in the official app.
USJ's own page also says that on some days you may be able to enter without any of these. You can't plan on that.

Lottery ticket
Used when timed tickets run out. Apply in the app at least 1 hour before the time you want; the result shows 1 hour before that time.
Express Pass with entry guarantee
A set area entry time that comes with the pass. The way to be sure before you arrive.
How to get the timed entry ticket in the app
Since January 5, 2026, the area tickets are issued only through the official app. Set it up the night before so you're not doing it at the gate.
- Install the official USJ app before your visit. USJ's English guide shows the app's screens in English. Update to the latest version: older versions can't issue the tickets.
- Register your Studio Pass in the app. On the Home screen tap "Timed Entry eTicket", then "Register Park Admission Tickets", and scan the QR code of every ticket in your group. Then you get area tickets for everyone at once.
- Enter the park, then open the area ticket screen. USJ says the tickets are issued only inside the park, to tickets that were scanned at the gate. Go straight to it after you enter.
- Choose Super Nintendo World and a return time. Take the earliest time that works. If none are left, check whether the lottery is open.The app needs mobile data inside the park. A Japan eSIM is the simplest fix.Japan eSIMs on Klook ↗
- Come back at your time. Show the QR code in the app to the crew at the area entrance. It is valid once, only for the date, time and number of people on it.

USJ's Super Nintendo World page says that from January 5, 2026 the area timed entry and lottery tickets are issued only through the official app, and that guaranteed-entry tickets are bought in advance.
USJ's timed entry page says the tickets are issued only inside the park and only once a day, that lottery results come 1 hour before the entry time, and that depending on operations you may enter without a ticket.
USJ's Express Pass page says the Express Pass does not include park entry, and that guaranteed entry to popular areas comes only with a pass that includes an entry guarantee.
Lawson Ticket's USJ page says the area numbered tickets can run out early.
Is an Express Pass worth it just for Nintendo World?
If Super Nintendo World is the one thing you came for, it's worth considering: a pass with the area entry guarantee is the way to know before you arrive that you will get in, and it also gets you the Express lines on the rides it lists.
If you can do without that certainty, the free app ticket costs nothing. Get it as soon as you're through the gate, and if the timed tickets are gone, enter the lottery.

Check the product name: only passes that say they include area entry guarantee it. Buy from the official store first; agencies are the fallback when the store's waiting room is long or a pass shows as sold out there.

No return times left in the app
Once timed tickets run out, the app switches to lottery tickets. Apply at least 1 hour before the time you want, and no later than 3 hours before the park closes.
I lost the lottery
Area tickets are issued only once a day, so you can't apply again that day. USJ says that, depending on operations, the area may let people in without a ticket, so check the app later. For a sure entry on another day, buy an Express Pass that includes it.
The app won't load at the gate
Check that mobile data is on and that the app is the latest version (older versions can't issue the tickets), then try again.
One person in my group has no ticket in the app
Every Studio Pass must be registered in the app before you request area tickets. Add the missing one and request again.
Do you need a Power-Up Band?
Not for entry. The band is a paid wristband: with it you can play the Key Challenges and collect coins and digital stamps in the area. USJ says it does not get you into Super Nintendo World. Buy one if you or your kids want to play those games.
